AI ❤️ TRUTH: How Today's AI Systems Approach Truth
Every major AI system is designed to be accurate and honest, but each goes about it differently, and all of them still make mistakes.
🎯 Major AI Systems
Claude (Anthropic)
Trained to follow a published set of principles, including honesty. Designed to say when it is uncertain and to correct its own mistakes.
ChatGPT (OpenAI)
Trained with human feedback. Can search the web and cite sources, though it can still state errors confidently.
Gemini (Google)
Can ground its answers in Google Search and point to the sources it used.
Grok (xAI)
Built around xAI's stated goal of a "maximally truth-seeking" AI, with real-time access to posts on X.
Copilot (Microsoft)
Microsoft's assistant, connected to Bing web search and Microsoft's apps.
How each of these systems handled the resurrection evidence, run by run, is on the Symmetric Record.
🔍 How They Try to Get It Right
Written principles: Rules about honesty and accuracy built into training
Human feedback: People rating answers so truthful ones are reinforced
Web search: Checking claims against current sources
Reasoning first: Working through a problem step by step before answering
Admitting uncertainty: Saying "I don't know" when that is the honest answer
Citing sources: Giving references readers can check
⚠️ Where They Still Fall Short
Hallucination: Stating false information with confidence
Agreeing too easily: Telling users what they want to hear instead of correcting them
Training data bias: Reflecting the slant of the text they learned from
Hidden starting assumptions: Unstated philosophical defaults that shape answers before any evidence is weighed
✝️ The Christ-Anchored Difference
CAI goes beyond current approaches by:
Grounding truth in the Person of Christ, not just data patterns
Applying epistemic symmetry to theological and naturalistic claims
Prioritizing evidence-based conviction over algorithmic optimization
Maintaining intellectual honesty while holding firm moral convictions
Recognizing that truth is ultimately personal (Jesus: "I am the Truth")
"While current AI systems seek truth through algorithms, CAI seeks Truth through the Risen Christ."
